Steven Garcia is a professional photographer based in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area, with a diverse portfolio spanning sports, editorial news, portraits, weddings and events, corporate/commercial work, performing arts, and automotive/motorsports.

His work has appeared in a wide range of publications and digital media both online and in print, including ESPN, Sports Illustrated, The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Star Tribune, ABC News, CBS News, Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal, TIME Magazine, Forbes, The Athletic, Golf Digest, L’Équipe, St. Olaf Magazine, and Minnesota Bride, among other publications. Steven has worked with corporate brands, professional and collegiate sports teams, private and public universities, performing arts organizations, news and sports editorial photo agencies, and nonprofit institutions (selected client list below) among other clients. He also previously held photo positions at St. Olaf College, Walser Automotive, and served as Photo Editor of The Olaf Messenger.

Steven is a contract photographer with Getty Images (click to go to page), Cal Sport Media (click to go to page) , and is a regular contributor to NurPhoto Agency (click to go to page), as well as being a previous contributor for ZUMA Press Wire. As credentialed media, he has photographed major news and sports events across Minnesota and the greater Midwest, including MLB, MLS, WNBA, PWHL, PGA, US Olympic Trials (Gymnastics), USA Hockey, USA Soccer, Red Bull, and NCAA Division I sports and championship events. His photography has received multiple honors in ZUMA’s “Pictures of the Day” and “Pictures of the Month.” as well as recognition in the 2025 Northern Exposure Photo Contest Pro-Division. He is a member of Diversify Photo, the Professional Baseball Photographers Association (PBPA), and the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA).

In addition to his freelance work, Steven works as a part-time Production Assistant, Team Photographer, and Digital Asset Manager for the award-winning Vick Photography Studios in St. Louis Park, MN.

Beyond photography, Steven is also an accomplished trumpet player active in the Minneapolis–St. Paul music scene. He performs in a variety of settings including orchestral, jazz, chamber, musical theatre, and contemporary music ensembles. He is the 2nd Trumpet of the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Manny Laureano, and has performed as a Substitute/Extra Trumpet with the Minnesota Orchestra. He has also performed with the Rochester Symphony, DalekoArts, Artistry Theatre, VocalEssence, and the La Crosse Symphony, among other ensembles. Steven holds a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance from St. Olaf College.
